Board changes in 2013

Noel Shuttleworth, whilst remaining Life President, has retired from the Cognatum board because of ill health. Noel, who founded English Courtyard in the 1970s, was responsible for revolutionising retirement housing in the UK.

Genie Turton has stepped down after completing her three-year term as a resident director in December. Her replacement will be announced in the spring. Genie, who has a house at Bemerton Farm in Wiltshire, had a distinguished career in the civil service and brought great insights into corporate governance. She also helped with the development of the customer survey and sat on the remuneration committee. In addition she chaired the recently established estate managers’ forum.

Alex Matthews joined as a non-executive director in December. He has a wealth of experience in customer service from a long career with Marks & Spencer and then HSBC, where he established their retail presence in Russia before taking up a job as head of customer experience for the HSBC Group.
