Wiltshire

Cognatum has more retirement developments in Wiltshire than any other county, with seven estates to be found in Ramsbury, Downton, Bemerton, Pewsey, Winterbourne Earls and two in Marlborough. Romans, Normans and Saxons have all left their mark on Wiltshire, which offers a plethora of fascinating ancient sites in addition to the more well-known Stonehenge and Avebury. The medieval city of Salisbury with its magnificent cathedral is also a county highlight, however there are many other interesting and attractive towns including Amesbury, Malmesbury, Chippenham and Marlborough. Almost half of Wiltshire is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there are a variety of ways to enjoy the beautiful countryside, from walking, cycling and horse-riding to fishing, boating and golf. Salisbury offers good transport connections to several major cities and is only a 90-minute journey from Heathrow airport.
