Cambridgeshire

Cognatum’s two Cambridgeshire estates can be found in Elton and Girton, close to Cambridge. The university city of Cambridge sits just off the A1, offering a surprisingly quick and easy journey to London given the peaceful and pastoral feel of the county, much of which is low-lying with fertile farmland now reclaimed from the Fens. The college buildings bring great character to the city, once home to Oliver Cromwell, with the river Cam providing the famous punting scenes. Further north is the famous Ely Cathedral and the bustling town of Peterborough, which has its roots in medieval times and is home to one of the finest surviving Norman cathedrals. The quiet beauty of East Anglia is easily accessible by road and Luton airport is just a short distance away, and in tribute to the aerial importance of the area during WWII the Imperial War Museum houses a fine collection of aircraft at Duxford.
