Guernsey
Cognatum’s single estate on Guernsey can be found in Castel. The coastal scenery of Guernsey is magnificent, peppered with bays and caves, while inland the vegetation is lush and rich and the charming buildings offer a reminder of history. Castle Cornet, built as a harbour fortification in the 13th Century, now houses a museum, and French writer Victor Hugo made his home in the lavish Hauteville House. The climate is lovely, affording many opportunities to walk, sail, or golf, and the main town of St Peter Port mixes ancient cobbled streets and attractive Regency architecture with contemporary shops and excellent restaurants. When you want a change from island life, Guernsey has a small airport and the harbour at St Peter Port bustles with the arrivals and departures of ferries to a range of destinations.
