West Sussex
Cognatum has two estates in West Sussex, located in Ardingly and Christ’s Hospital. West Sussex is very much a rural county, particularly to the north of the coastal resort developments, with large sections of its open countryside designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The old town of Horsham on the upper reaches of the River Arun has a range of shops, cafes and restaurants; Chichester boasts one of the most beautiful of the earlier English cathedrals; and Worthing can offer a charming and not-too-busy seafront. West Sussex is also home to many small villages, several in possession of ancient and unusual churches such as Sompting church with its helm tower, and all across the county are fine buildings of all periods; from great castles such as Arundel to mansions by Sir Edwin Lutyens.
