A well-crafted estate in a parish with Saxon roots
Abbey Mill enjoys a delightful location in the popular village of Prestbury, on the site of a former corn mill overlooking the River Bollin. It is a beautifully-crafted estate with the cottages and apartments arranged around an intimate garden courtyard, maintained by the estate managers, with cars safely tucked away in underground garaging.
A footpath to the village runs next to St Peter’s Church, one of the oldest parish churches in the country with religious roots dating back to the Saxons. A frequent winner of Best Kept Village awards, and part of a Conservation Area with many buildings managed by English Heritage, Prestbury has excellent shops including a supermarket with post office, a florist, a chemist, coffee shops and a good variety of restaurants and pubs. There is a tennis club and bowling green, the nearby Prestbury Golf Club is a jewel in the crown of Cheshire golf and Macclesfield Forest allows for walking and other outdoor pursuits. Almost 1,500km² of rugged hilly countryside begins just a few minutes’ drive to the east of the estate, within the Peak District National Park, and there is a local station with hourly trains to Manchester and Stoke on Trent for when you want a city excursion.
