Stannary Gardens

Chagford | Devon

A Blue Cedar Homes Management Company Estate

15 flats and cottages close to the centre of Chagford

Chagford was mentioned in Domesday as Chageford and belonged to the Bishop of Coutances. Its name is thought to derive from old English and means a ford in gorse-covered country. An apt description the market town lies in beautiful country near the source of River Teign on the north-east edge of Dartmoor surrounded by stone circles and prehistoric remains. In the medieval ages it was one of the original stannary towns responsible for assessing and stamping tin. Today it has a good range of shops, restaurants and pubs. Nearby Gidleigh Park is an excellent place to stay.
