Small private estate of detached houses overlooking landscaped gardens

Budleigh Salterton retains its Victorian charm and is little changed over the years with a busy and colourful high street with boutique and speciality shops, butchers, banks and food shops. The beach is long and rarely crowded and from the east end of the town there are fine views over Lyme Bay. Nearby are tennis courts, bowls, croquet, as well as two golf courses in Budleigh Salterton and Woodbury both with views. There are excellent walks along the River Otter to the east of the town. Sir Walter Raleigh was born at Hayes Barton.
